The ROUTE Pack is WANDRD's answer to the problem of where the camera goes on trail. It clips to the front of a FERNWEH by way of the quick-release shoulder strap attachment so a body and lens ride on your chest within reach, threads onto the waist strap when you would rather carry it on the hip, and works perfectly well on its own with the included shoulder strap.
An expansion zipper adds nearly a litre when a telephoto goes on, taking it from 2.68 to 3.61 litres without changing its footprint the rest of the time. Quick access reaches the main compartment without taking the pack off, a front organization pocket swallows filters, batteries and snacks, and a breathable mesh back panel keeps things cool against your body. At half a pound in 420D Robic Nylon, you stop noticing it is there.
